The University of North Texas (UNT) is a community that combines creativity and caring
to provide an extraordinary educational environment where we go the extra mile to
help our diverse student body. To achieve our vision, we will work together to solve
complex issues and find ways to empower our students to succeed in the face of a rapidly
changing world. To measure progress towards achieving student achievement goals, UNT
annually gathers data to analyze, report, and improve performance in key areas. UNT
is committed to the students enrolled at the university and is focused on continuous
improvement.
UNT Institutional Goals
In 2018-2019, UNT developed a strategic plan to advance its mission and support student success through the year 2025. By embracing
a culture of collaboration, UNT will solve important problems and make improvements.
Several of the strategies developed in the plan focus on creating outstanding, inclusive
student experiences from admission to graduation and collaborating to decrease barriers
for student achievement.
Undergraduate Education
UNT has set goals for undergraduate student achievement in several key areas:
- Full-time retention rate for first-time-in-college (FTIC) students (fall to fall semesters)
- Full-time retention rate for transfer students (fall to fall semesters)
- Six-year graduation rate
- Number of bachelor's degrees conferred
Full-time retention rate for first-time-in-college students
UNT is committed to improve its retention rate for full-time, first-time-in-college
(FTIC) students to 86 percent by the end of 2025. Retention rates measure the percentage
of full-time, first-time undergraduate students who return to the same institution
the following fall semester.

- Graduation rate
- Number of master and doctoral degrees conferred
Master's and doctoral student graduation rate

pursuing a master's degree, there is a goal set for the 5-year graduation rate after
students enter a program. For students pursuing a doctoral degree, there is a goal
set for the 7-year graduation rate. The required semester credit hours of programs
and program lengths are varied. Graduation rates measure the percentage of students
who complete their program at the same institution within a specified length of time.
